Computing

Computing is concerned with how computers and computer systems work, and how they are designed and programmed.

‘It equips our pupils to solve problems, design systems and understand the power and limits of human and machine intelligence. Pupils who can think computationally are better able to conceptualise, understand and use computer based technology and so are better prepared for todays’ world and the future.’

Computing in the National Curriculum, Computing at School

Our curriculum enables pupils to become digitally literate and become active participants in an increasingly digital world.

At Astley C.E. Primary School, the Computing National Curriculum is taught through unit plans provided by The Teach Computing Curriculum. Children are taught four areas: computer networks and systems, programming, data and information, and creating media. They meet these areas of learning every year, enabling skills and concepts to progress year on year.

Astley School is equipped with touch screens in every learning space. Laptops and iPads are available for individual pupil use across the school day and curriculum.
