Early Years

Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven,
- Matthew 5  V16

curious, confident, caring

Welcome to Astley Early Years

We educate the whole child and ensure children are happy, healthy and fulfil their potential in all areas of learning. Early Years is where the crucial foundations for lifelong learning begin, and where children are introduced to a wealth of experiences across all areas of the Foundation Stage curriculum.

Our Provision

Staff in Astley Early Years welcome children from the term of their third birthday. Parents can use their allocated 15-hour and 30-hour funding, as well as any additional sessions required.

We are open from 8:30am – 3:00pm, with on-site wraparound care available from 7:45am – 6:00pm. We are a term-time only setting.

If you would like more information or wish to join our Nursery waiting list, please contact the school office: office@astley.worcs.sch.uk and we will be happy to help.

Learning in Early Years

Our Reception children join the September following their fourth birthday. At Astley, we provide a highly stimulating and purposeful environment where children learn best through play, exploration and meaningful experiences.

Our provision supports children to become respectful, resilient and independent learners, with a strong emphasis on practical, hands-on learning and use of our outdoor environment.

What Children Experience

Children have access to:

  • Continuous provision – high-quality resources always available
  • Enhancements – planned to extend learning and interests
  • Adult-led sessions – introducing new knowledge and skills
  • Forest School – weekly sessions led by a trained Forest School leader

How We Teach

Our practitioners plan “in the moment”, using the Early Years Framework and Development Matters guidance.

Through high-quality interactions, staff observe, assess and respond to each child’s learning, supporting progress towards the Early Learning Goals.

Our Team

Our Early Years provision is led by an experienced and qualified teacher, supported by skilled Early Years practitioners.
