Subjects

At Astley CE Primary School, our curriculum is designed to inspire curiosity, develop knowledge and skills, and enable every child to flourish academically, personally and spiritually.

We provide a broad and balanced curriculum that reflects our Christian values and the unique context of our rural school. Through carefully planned learning, we ensure that knowledge builds progressively across all subjects, supporting children to become confident, independent learners.

Each subject is taught with a clear intent, structured implementation and a focus on impact, so that pupils develop a deep understanding and are well prepared for the next stage of their education.

Learning Outside the Classroom

At Astley CE Primary School, we pride ourselves on providing regular opportunities for learning beyond the classroom. Situated in the heart of the Worcestershire countryside, we make the most of our surroundings to offer hands-on, meaningful experiences that enrich the curriculum.

Learning Outside the Classroom is not limited to Forest School sessions. We enhance learning through off-site visits, local trips and residential experiences. We also welcome visitors into school, run workshops and organise themed days, ensuring that pupils are exposed to a wide range of experiences, ideas and perspectives.

Through these opportunities, children develop their personal, social and emotional skills, alongside important life skills such as resilience, teamwork and independence. These experiences support our vision for all children to grow in confidence and develop a lifelong love of learning.

“Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”
Matthew 5:16

Forest School

Forest School is a highlight for all children at Astley CE Primary. Weekly sessions give pupils the opportunity to explore the natural environment, develop practical skills and build confidence in an outdoor setting.

Through Forest School, children develop creativity, independence and critical thinking skills, which support and enhance their learning in the classroom.

Learning Outside the Classroom Accreditation

We are proud to be an accredited Silver LOtC Mark school, recognising our commitment to providing high-quality learning experiences beyond the classroom.

This award reflects the dedication of our staff in ensuring that all children benefit from a wide range of enriching opportunities that support both their academic learning and personal development.

We are committed to continuing to develop our provision as we build towards the next stage of the LOtC Mark.
