Remote Learning
At Astley CE Primary School, we aim to ensure that all pupils can continue their learning when they are unable to attend school but are well enough to do so.
We use a combination of online platforms and carefully selected resources to support learning at home, ensuring continuity with the curriculum taught in school.
When Remote Education Is Provided
Remote education may be provided in situations such as:
- Short-term absence due to illness
- Individual circumstances where a pupil cannot attend school
- Severe weather or other unexpected disruption
We do not expect pupils who are unwell to complete work.
How Learning Will Be Delivered
We use Seesaw as our main platform for remote learning.
Through Seesaw, pupils may receive:
- Learning activities linked to current classroom teaching
- Reading, writing and maths tasks
- Topic-based work
- Additional resources to support independent learning
All pupils are given their login details at the beginning of the academic year. Family members are also invited to link to their child’s page.
Timescales
We aim to provide remote learning as soon as reasonably practicable, typically within 1–2 school days of a pupil being absent.
Feedback and Engagement
- Pupils may be asked to upload completed work via Seesaw
- Teachers will review submitted work and provide feedback where appropriate
- We will monitor engagement and may contact parents if additional support is needed
Support for Pupils with SEND
We recognise that some pupils may need additional support to access remote learning.
Where appropriate, work will be adapted to meet individual needs.
Online Safety
We encourage all pupils to use online platforms safely and responsibly.
Further guidance for parents and pupils can be found on our Online Safety page.
Further Support
If you require any support with remote education, including access to online learning or paper copies of work, please contact your child’s class email address.
We will be happy to support you and your child’s learning.
Useful Resources
The following pages have been identified to support children within each phase.
In the event of prolonged or planned closure, class teachers will upload bespoke lessons and work to the class Seesaw page.
